Dolce & Gabbana
After the initial Covid-19 emergency, the first in-person fashion show in the world took place in Florence on September 2nd-4th, 2020. The international fashion house Dolce and Gabbana paid homage to the history and art of the Tuscan capital, the city of the Renaissance and rebirth from the destruction of the 1348 plague which devastated Europe. Florence, an international city, is art, it is culture, it is unity, and it is an interchange as it comes back to life after the pandemic. The city’s craftsmanship, its talented artisans, and the classic savoir-faire of Made in Italy are at the centre of everything and are represented by the union between human capital and the land of Tuscany. The fashion show included 38 artisan ateliers, including Antico Setificio Fiorentino which has been in operation since 1786 in the San Frediano district and is the epitome of consistency, fortitude, and determination in championing artisan know-how. On this occasion, the Broccatello Giglio fabric gave form to a men's outfit and embodied Florentine craftsmanship with every detail by representing Florence with the Giglio symbol – a lily – an identifying emblem of the Tuscan capital.
